TIGA welcomes GameBench as its latest member

By April 11, 2014 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association for game developers and digital publishers in the UK has announced GameBench is its newest member. GameBench is a startup seeking to provide developers with a unique view of the Android gaming market, and the tools needed to improve the user experience by maximising gaming performance and battery life.

GameBench has invented a new method for device usability benchmarking. This enables game developers to inspect, analyse and optimise their Android games or apps. What is particularly unique about GameBench is that it can test game performance in realtime, as demonstrated by top technology site Gizmodo.

Global business site, Forbes also used GameBench for testing and stated:

“Unlike most other benchmarks, GameBench measures a phone’s performance while it’s running real-world applications — in this case, games downloaded from the Google Play store.  Not only does this offer more realistic measures of performance (including battery drain as well as raw speed), but it’s also much less susceptible to the sort of cheating that has affected some “synthetic” benchmarks.”

Interested TIGA members are encouraged to download, test and feed back on the the GameBench app, the beta version of which can be downloaded here.

The GameBench app will soon be followed by AppBench, for all Android app developers looking to apply similar real world and real time analysis and optimisation to their products.

GameBench was founded in 2013 by Sri Kannan Iyer. It acquired seed funding from two angel investors and established its R&D centre in the Bristol and Bath Science Park. It currently has 6 full-time employees.

GameBench CEO, Sri Kannan Iyer, comments:

“I’m very pleased to join TIGA and its community of developers and digital publishers. The UK is home to many of the top developers and manufacturers in the Android ecosystem. Gaming is also a vital part of that ecosystem – and generates the most revenue too.

“As a startup, the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other key players in the UK is hugely valuable, so I look forward to attending TIGA’s events to build GameBench’s connections in this vibrant and exciting area of game development.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA, added;

“TIGA offers a warm welcome to GameBench, the company looks like it is creating genuinely new and important tools for mobile game developers in the UK and around the world.

“I look forward to hearing more about GameBench’s products and reports, and seeing the team’s contribution to the thriving Android gaming ecosystem and wider industry.”
