Free October 17th afternoon event to help game devs learn the secrets of successful campaign strategy

TIGA, the network for videogame developers and digital publishers in the UK is hosting a free-to-attend afternoon Q&A session with Kickstarter to help indies understand how best to raise funds and build a community around their work.

The event will feature Stephanie Pereira, International Partnerships Lead for Kickstarter, sharing stories, stats and strategies from successful indie game campaigns to show how UK devs can best use Kickstarter to bring their creative projects to life.

Also speaking will be Russ Clarke from Payload Studios, which less than two months ago successfully raised £39,061 for its game Terratech, comfortably surpassing its campaign goal of £35,000, and its PR lead from Press Space PR, Natalie Griffith.

The event will be held on Friday 17th October at the Dolby Theatre in Soho, London, from 4pm til 6pm, followed by networking and free drinks. The event will be free to attend and places are limited, so attendees are politely asked to register here as soon as possible.

Stephanie Pereira, International Partnerships Lead, Kickstarter, said:

“The indie games community is one of Kickstarter’s most vital – more money is pledged to games on Kickstarter than any other category. I am really looking into digging into a case study with the TIGA and UK game dev community!”

Russ Clarke, co-founder, Payload Studios, comments:

“Kickstarter has been a key part of our strategy since the start, and it’s been a vital tool for mobilising our existing community and helping it to grow, as well as providing an important source of funding. We’re looking forward to sharing our experiences with other developers and lifting the lid on the rollercoaster ride of successfully running a Kickstarter campaign!”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA, added:

“Kickstarter has made a huge contribution to the success of our game development industry, and its ability to help address the issue of financing will continue to be an important part of the indie funding ecosystem.

“As such, we are delighted to be able to offer TIGA members and other games businesses the chance to get the inside track from Kickstarter themselves on what works, what doesn’t, and how to give their own individual projects the best chance of success.”

About Payload Studios

Payload Studios is a British independent game studio founded by Russ Clarke to develop the ultimate exploration, construction and combat game, TerraTech.

Payload Studios founder Russ Clarke left London’s Ideaworks mobile studio to go on his very own indie adventure in 2012. He developed the first prototype for TerraTech by himself shortly afterwards, pulling in his experience from working on beloved franchises like Metal Gear, Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and Fable. After spending some time working as a consultant he returned to the TerraTech prototype to turn his vision into a full blown indie project. The game you see today started its life in late 2013 and has progressed rapidly, attracting attention from some of gaming’s biggest publishers and high-profile media.

It’s now in beta following a successful Kickstarter campaign in July 2014 and will release in Early Access in October 2014, followed by a full Steam release in early 2015.
