In association with GameSparks and Marmalade, TIGA are bringing the games community an event to Prepare For Life After Launch. Featuring key note speakers workshops and a panel the day seeks to provide valuable insight to developers on how to prepare and manage your game well as well as distribute it widely.

Held in Leamington Spa, home to a rich cluster of prominent and upcoming game developers. With talks from local talent such as Steve Stopps and Alex Darby and added support from Warwickshire District Council, this event is a must for developers looking to learn more about cross platform tools and technology.

  • Alex Darby – “Porting Unity Games to Console”

It discusses issues that developers are likely to face when porting Unity games from PC to console, and strategies for dealing with or avoiding them.

The primary focus of the session is on architectural solutions for managing a multi-platform Unity project whilst minimising platform specific code and data, but it will also specifically highlight tensions between and commonalities of the various platforms.

  • Steve Stopps The emotional implications of cross platform design.

Porting games from mobile to PC or Console is not simply a technical challenge. The player behaviour and emotional expectations are also altered by different controls and play environment. In this session Team Lumo use the move of Lumo’s Cat from Mobile to Apple TV, and explore how the game evolved to deliver a compelling living room experience.

  • Barnaby Smith, Rapid Level Design with SabreCSG
  • Panel hosted by Des GayleShop bought or home-made? The merits and pitfalls of writing your own engine versus using Unity or Unreal “

  • Gorm Lai , Kotori Studios,
  • Andy Esser, Zero Dependancy
