Networking
Lunch to celebrate Women in Games during Develop conference is announced for 11
July.
Come and join us on the Brighton
Seafront! Women in Games Jobs (WIGJ) with fantastic support from Norwich University College of the
Arts is pleased to announce its third annual
Develop Networking Lunch for women in games on Wednesday, 11th July in
Brighton.
Both women and men going to Develop 2012 or who live and work in reach of Brighton
are invited to a lunch hosted by WIGJ and the chance to network with up to 100
other developers working or planning to work in the games industry.
We are also
delighted to welcome as guest of honour Dr Jo Twist, CEO of games trade body,
UKIE.
As few as 1 in 15 game developers in
the UK are women. This lunch is an opportunity to treasure and celebrate
diversity in the games industry on 11 July.
The
lunch is sponsored by Norwich University College of the Arts, a modern and
creative community providing arts, design and media education. Their BA (Hons)
Games Art and Design course has a great record in recruiting and educating
female students for creative roles in the sector.
Course Leader Marie-Claire
Isaaman said "We are proud to sponsor WIGJ and their efforts to encourage more
women to join and enrich the UK games industry.”
Location is upstairs
at the Brighton
Music Hall, 127 Kings Road Arches, Brighton. There is a free
expo at the Develop Conference in the Hilton Brighton
Metropole (only 50m away) which is an excellent opportunity for developers
to talk to the games companies exhibiting there. Men are very welcome but are asked to invite a
female colleague or come as guests of WIGJ supporters.
There are only a limited number of
places which are being offered on a first come, first served basis. This event
is by ticket only so those attending will need to register at http://www.meetup.com/WIGJMeetup/
