"Cloud in the gaming industry now
and in the future – what is the opportunity for game developers?”
Develop a concept with our cloud
gaming experts.
Talk and briefing at Modern Jago
venue in Shoreditch
Wednesday 12th December at 6.30pm with beer and bagels.
Gaming is set to change massively
over the next five years, and Cloud gaming is at the forefront of this. James
Binns, Managing Director of Network N Ltd and Rob Fraser - Chief Technology
Officer of Cloud Services for Microsoft UK, will lead this discussion.
They
will share their background and expertise in the industry and their opinions on
cloud gaming now and in the future, with the expectation of inspiring lively
debate and encouraging new thinking about cloud gaming.
Cloud gaming is set to have a
significant impact on the games industry, with analysts projecting potential
revenues of 6% of the market by 2017. With
this in mind our speakers will discuss the context of the rise of cloud gaming
and the impact of digital distribution and highlight the opportunities for
developers, as well as setting a cloud gaming creative brief of their own for
developers to respond to.
Do you have vision, creativity and
want to feel inspired? If so, James will be setting the brief at Modern Jago on
Wednesday 12th December, and is looking for creative responses for new app
concepts using Cloud gaming. Entry will be simple and straightforward, and
will initially involve the sharing of ideas with the ultimate aim of building
the app.
James will lead the discussion with
his personal views on the current utilization of Cloud in the UK games
industry, as well as elaborating on the areas where he feels there are
opportunities for the industry with Cloud, and the potential pitfalls. He will
also share examples of best practice in business models, game mechanics, user
profiles and distribution mechanics.
Rob will then cover Microsoft’s Cloud
proposition and share his thoughts on what opportunities are available on each
platform. The brief will then be set and guests will have the opportunity to
ask any burning questions.
March’s issue of Develop magazine
will contain a supplement on Cloud Gaming, the best concepts will be showcased
within this issue.
This brief is the second instalment
of The Modern Jago Awards – briefs will be set over 5 separate talks between
November and February. The aim is to encourage creative collaboration and
sharing of ideas.
Microsoft will be providing support / workshops at Modern
Jago once briefs have been set. In February there will be an Awards event to
celebrate the best outputs from Modern Jago.
