If you’re looking to study gaming, look no further than Derby. - We have three Games Development Suites used for game development and programming. They are built to replicate a work environment which enables small team dedicated working and gets you used to how you’ll operate once you’ve graduated - All suites have state-of-the-art PCs with dual screen set ups, dedicated connections to the latest game consoles and HDTVs. They’re also equipped with the latest games consoles and the necessary development kits. We even have retro archive of classic games systems including Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive and Atari Jaguar. We’re the largest university user of the official development kits for Sony PSP. - We are proud of our partnerships with industry platforms and constantly strive to employ the latest industry technologies within our programmes. Within the course we use a range of engines. We were the the first UK partner with Emergent and employ Emergent’s Gamebryo platform in a number of our modules. Our computer games animation students use Autodesk Maya and Motionbuilder along with Z Brush and Bodypaint as its core set of tools. - Our current placement students are receiving great reviews from their employers who include Lionhead, Blitz, Kuju, Eurocom and Monumental. - In March 2009 Derby hosted the first Microsoft X48 competition, run by Microsoft and Channel 4. It’s a marathon game-camp where students and indie developers use Microsoft's XNA Game Studio 3.0 to create a game in less than 48 hours. - At the 2008 Develop awards we were shortlisted for an award for our contribution to games education.
